On Monday we took a day long tour of the region of Tuscany. This beautiful area is very famous for vineyards and and olive groves. Some of the best wine and olive oil comes from right here. Our house even has olive trees growing all around it. The first place we went on the tour was Siena. It is a beautiful little town that is well over a thousand years old. They began building this church in 1144, and it took over 400 years to complete. It is very famous for its black and white striped marble and its beautiful floors.
This is the front of the church.
Many artists created beautiful floors with marble instead of paint!
This is the farmhouse where we ate lunch. Everything we ate was raised on the farm and was delicious. I bet you will be able to do that with Mommy's garden this summer!
The next place we visited was San Gimignano. It is a beautiful little hillside town that is famous for its tower houses.
Do you think maybe this is where Rapunzel lived?

This is the gate to the city.

A street musician inside the gates.
This is the view from the city gate. Those straight rows are vineyards, and in front of that, olive trees!
Here we are at the highest point in the city. It was beautiful!

Guess where we went next? Pisa!

Guess who climbed all the way to the top? You guessed it - Sweetie and Doc! This is one of the bells at the very top.
This is the view of Pisa from the top of the tower.
Leaning.... You can learn more about why it leans here.
Good thing I was there to hold it up for a while.
It seemed to be easier for Doc!
Love you and miss you both!
