Florence

Dear Charlie and Polly,

We had such a nice day in Florence on Tuesday. It was the first time we hadn't had to set the alarm to get up early and be somewhere! We slept late and enjoyed spending sometime around the villa. When we finally ventured into Florence, it was already time for lunch. We ate at this little outdoor cafe.

 

Soon a street musician came by so I made this little video so you could hear it, too!

We spent the rest of the day wandering around Florence and doing a little shopping. :-)

This is a picture of the most famous church in Florence, and it is beautiful. It is called the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore (St.Mary of the Flower), but everyone calls it the Duomo because of the beautiful domed roof.

 

This is the bell tower at the Duomo. The bells ring every hour on the hour.

 

I made this video so you could hear them ring, too!

 

This is a close up of the front of the church. Doesn't it look like the halos are glowing?

 

And here is the beautiful dome.

Overall, we had a great, relaxing day. We hope you all are having fun too. Congratulations Charlie on making straight As all year long. We are SO proud of you!!!
